Vincent Azama ID’d as Man Critically Injured in San Francisco Pedestrian Crash on Highway 280

San Francisco, California (September 17, 2019) – The man who was critically injured when a vehicle hit him while fleeing from police in San Francisco on Monday afternoon has been identified as Vincent Azama, 25, of San Francisco.
The collision happened at about 3:10 p.m. September 16, on Bennington Street at Highland Avenue in the city’s Bernal Heights neighborhood.
The chase begins when authorities approached a vehicle and identified themselves as police officers, the occupant of the car, now identified as Azama, exited and fled on foot
The officers attempted to chase him but lost sight of him. A witness told the authorities they saw someone matching the description of the suspect near the Alemany Farmers Market on Alemany Boulevard.
When officers arrived in the area, they saw Azama jump a fence and run onto southbound Highway 280 where he was hit by a vehicle.
Victim Seriously Injured in San Francisco Crash ID’d as Vincent Azama
Azama sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital. As of Tuesday morning, he remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
No further details were immediately provided.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
