San Bernardino, CA: 4 Injured in Fiery DUI Collision at North D Street and 8th Street
4 Hospitalized, DUI Driver Arrested in San Bernardino Car Accident at North D Street and 8th Street

San Bernardino, California (September 16, 2019) – Authorities said four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that took place Saturday night at an intersection in San Bernardino.
According to San Bernardino Police, the DUI crash, that left Jeffrey Dakarai, 44, of San Bernardino, arrested, took place at about 10:46 p.m. at North D Street and 8th Street.
The report said a Ford van was headed south on North D Street when it collided with a Lincoln Navigator traveling east on 8th Street. The Lincoln then hit a nearby building and caught fire which spread to the adjacent structure.
The two occupants of the Lincoln were able to get out of the car which was engulfed in flames. They suffered life-threatening injuries. The van was occupied by the driver and two passengers, a 13-year-old and an 18-year-old man. The two passengers sustained unspecified injuries. All the patients were taken to hospitals for treatment.
According to police, the driver of the van, Mr. Dakarai, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and child endangerment. Dakarai was held at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Detention Center. He will appear in court on Tuesday, September 17.
The cause of the crash is under an active investigation.
