2 Killed in Mountain View Crash on Highway 85 near Central Expressway and Evelyn Avenue
Mountain View, California (September 13, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a fatal wrong-way fiery collision that left two dead early Friday morning in Mountain View.
The deadly collision happened at about 1:00 a.m. Friday, on Highway 85 near Central Expressway and Evelyn Avenue.
As per the CHP officials, a Ford SUV was heading south in the northbound lanes of Highway 85 when for unknown reasons it hit a Honda Civic driven by a 35-year-old American Canyon man. The impact caused one of the vehicles to be fully engulfed in flames following the collision.
Fatal Fiery Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 85
Responding firefighters confirmed that the two motorists involved died in the collision. The names of the victims were not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.
Authorities closed all northbound lanes of Highway 85 at Evelyn Avenue to give way to an on-scene investigation.
An investigation is underway.
