Jesus Plancarte Dies, Jesse Aguilar Arrested after Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident at Story Road and Jackson Avenue
San Jose, California (September 7, 2019) – 26-year-old Jesse Alonso Aguilar of San Jose has been arrested after an alleged hit-and-run bicycle crash last month in the area of San Jose, according to authorities.
The deadly collision happened on Thursday, August 29, just after 2:00 p.m. at Story Road and Jackson Street.
As per the CHP officials, 44-year-old Jesus Orozco Plancarte of San Jose was riding his bicycle in a crosswalk at the junction when he was hit by a gold-colored Chevrolet Suburban driven by Aguilar.
The Suburban was reportedly traveling west on Story Road when it crashed into a blue Chevrolet Silverado at Jackson Street. The SUV then drove through the junction and finally struck Plancarte.
Jesus Plancarte Dies after Bicycle Accident at Story Road
Responding firefighters pronounced the rider dead at the scene.
The man operating the pickup truck was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The name and the current condition of the driver were not immediately released.
Authorities confirmed that Aguilar did not stop to assist the victims but fled the scene. Officials later located the suspect and arrested him.
An investigation is underway.
