22-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in University City Bicycle Crash on Eastgate Mall near Genesee Avenue
San Diego, California (September 6, 2019) – A woman was hospitalized with critical injuries following a bicycle collision on Thursday evening in University City, police said.
The incident took place on Eastgate Mall east of Genesee Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. September 5.
Police said a 22-year-old woman was riding a mountain bike eastbound on the bicycle lane on Eastgate Mall when she attempted to make a left turn onto Easter and was hit by an eastbound Honda Pilot.
Woman Critical after University City Bicycle Crash
The woman sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The 36-year-old woman driving the Honda was unhurt.
Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
