Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Struck, Injured by Amtrak Train in Simi Valley
Female Driver Seriously Injured in Simi Valley Train Accident
Simi Valley, California (September 4, 2019) – An alleged hit-and-run motorist leaving the scene of a crash wound up on train tracks and was seriously injured after being struck by an Amtrak train in Simi Valley Tuesday night, authorities said.
The wreck happened Tuesday, September 3. The exact time and scene of the accident were not mentioned in the report.
According to the authorities, the train crashed into a white BMW X5 on the tracks. The train carried the vehicle approximately 200 yards down the track before the train came to a rest.
Major-Injury Train Accident in Simi Valley Tuesday
Emergency crews freed the female driver of the BMW and took her to a hospital with major injuries. Her name and condition were not immediately diclosed.
Police said the other vehicle involved in the initial accident stopped at the scene.
None of the people on board the train was injured.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
