Lawrence Smith ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Contra Costa Pedestrian Accident on Bethel Island Road
Contra Costa, California (September 4, 2019) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday night in eastern Contra Costa County as Lawrence Smith, 67, of Bethel Island.
The deadly pedestrian accident was reported at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday, August 31 in the 6200 block of Bethel Island Road.
The authorities who responded to the incident found Smith lying on the roadway. The paramedics performed CPR on Smith, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the involved vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene. It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs were suspected factors in the accident.
No further information was given regarding the accident.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway.
