81-Year-Old Lauro Ordonez Killed in Escondido Car Accident at 15 Freeway and Del Lago Boulevard
Escondido, California (September 3, 2019) – 81-year-old Lauro Ordonez of Lemon Grove has been identified as one of the victims killed in a traffic collision in the area of Escondido Monday afternoon, a local news source reported.
The fatal collision was reported at about 8:31 p.m. September 2, at 15 Freeway and Del Lago Boulevard.
As per the report, the accident begins when a black 1998 Jaguar XK6 driven by Ordonez exited the carpool lane of the 15 freeway at the Del Lago Boulevard off-ramp and allegedly failed to stop at a red light. An oncoming white Toyota Avalon broadsided the Jaguar at the intersection.
The initial report indicated that the Toyota had been traveling westbound on Del Lago Boulevard at the time of the collision.
The 43-year-old man driving the Toyota Avalon was transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Ordonez was transported to the same hospital where he died the next morning at 2:08 a.m. His 80-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the accident remains under an active investigation.
