1 Dies, 1 Hospitalized after Selma Train Collision at Floral Avenue and Front Street
Selma, California (August 21, 2019) – A person was killed and another was injured Wednesday morning in a train accident at an intersection in Selma, police said.
The deadly accident took place at about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Floral Avenue and Front Street.
According to the police, a silver SUV occupied by two occupants, was stopped on the tracks at the Selma intersection for an unknown reason. The conductor attempted to stop the train prior to the collision.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Another victim was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Front Street was expected to be closed for another few hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
The crash remains under investigation by the authorities.
