1 Critically Hurt in Newark Fatal Car Accident at Central Avenue and Cedar Boulevard
Newark, California (August 3, 2019) – A driver was seriously hurt in a traffic collision in Newark late Friday night.
The collision was reported at approximately 11:15 p.m. August 2, at the intersection of Central Avenue and Cedar Boulevard.
As per Fremont Police, the accident begins when a woman was spotted entering a stolen vehicle at an apartment complex near Central Avenue and Blacow Road. The woman rammed two police vehicles and attempted to hit an officer with her vehicle before she managed to flee. The suspect, who was identified as 39-year-old Melissa Diamond of Fremont, traveled westbound on Central Avenue and slammed into two other vehicles at the intersection.

The crash resulted in severe injuries to one of the victims involved. Diamond was pronounced dead at the scene. The wounded party was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under an active investigation.
