68-Year-Old Man Killed, 5 Hospitalized after Turlock Car Accident at N. Golden State Boulevard and W. Monte Vista Avenue
Turlock, California (July 26, 2019) – One person was killed and five people were injured Thursday night in a traffic accident involving an ambulance at an intersection in Turlock, according to authorities.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at the intersection of N. Golden State Boulevard and W. Monte Vista Avenue.
Authorities said a 62-year-old man was driving his vehicle southbound on N. Golden State Boulevard when he struck the ambulance that was transporting a 68-year-old bicyclist who was struck by a car to a Modesto hospital from E. Hawkeye and N. Olive avenues.
The force of the impact caused the ambulance to flip over.
Police said the bicyclist was riding on the roadway just outside the crosswalk when for an unknown reason, a 19-year-old driver struck him.

The 68-year-old man inside the ambulance was taken by another ambulance to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Five other people, including two firefighters, were transported to local hospitals with moderate to severe injuries.
The extent of the injuries sustained by the man who struck the ambulance was unknown.
The intersection of N. Golden State Boulevard and W. Monte Vista Avenue was shut down while crews worked to clear the crash site.
Further details were not immediately available, and the crash remains under investigation.
