Fresno, California (July 25, 2019) – 48-year-old Charles Machado has been identified as the passenger who was seriously hurt in a fatal traffic collision in the area of Fresno Saturday evening.

The collision was reported in the evening hours, July 20, in the area of Maple Avenue and Kings Canyon Road.

The accident happened when a gray Toyota Tercel traveling south on Maple Avenue was hit by a blue Chevy Cruz driven by 31-year-old Gustavo Blanco. The initial report indicated that the Chevy was allegedly traveling between 75 and 88 mph on Kings Canyon Road when Blanco blew a red light and t-boned the Toyota.

The driver of the Cruz who was identified as 40-year-old Shawn Milton was pronounced dead at the scene. Machado, a passenger in the Toyota sustained major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Blanco suffered a fractured right ankle injury in the crash. The police affirmed that Blanco was intoxicated at the time of the collision. He was arrested and charged for vehicular manslaughter and driving under influence.
