71-Year-Old Salinas Man, 38-Year-Old San Jose Woman Killed in Monterey County Car Accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Hudson Road and Greenfield

Monterey County, California (July 22, 2019) – A 71-year-old Salinas man and a 38-year-old San Jose woman were killed late Sunday night in a wrong-way, multi-car crash in Monterey County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash, which was reported at around 11:55 p.m., Sunday, July 21, happened on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Hudson Road and the city of Greenfield.
According to the CHP, the Salinas man was driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey the wrong way when he slammed into a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated by the San Jose woman.
The Honda was then hit by a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by an 18-year-old Folsom man. The Nissan was also hit by a 2015 Peterbilt truck operated by a 24-year-old Apple Valley man.
The Ford and the truck collided. Both vehicles continued northbound before stopping.

The driver of the Honda and the Nissan driver were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of their family.
Two juvenile passengers in the Nissan were taken to a hospital. Their condition at this time was not disclosed.
No other details were immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
