San Luis Obispo County, CA: 1 Hospitalized after Motorcycle Crash on Highway 46

San Luis Obispo County, California (March 29, 2021) – One person was taken to the hospital after a Sunday afternoon motorcycle accident that happened in San Luis Obispo County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at about 4:45 p.m. on eastbound Highway 46, just half-a-mile east of the San Luis Obispo County and Kern County line.

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a dark-gray pickup truck under unclear circumstances.

The pickup truck was blocking traffic lanes, and the motorcycle was in the center median after the crash.

San Luis Obispo County firefighters responded to the scene to find the rider sitting on the right-hand shoulder.

The westbound traffic lanes were temporarily blocked to allow an air ambulance to land and airlift one person to the hospital.  The report did not mention the extent of injuries that the victim sustained.

The traffic lanes were reopened at 5:30 p.m. after the air ambulance lifted.

CHP is investigating the accident.
