Nevada County, California (November 10, 2020) – Ronald Hooper, 30, Rancho Cordova, has been identified as the pilot who was killed in a plane crash on Tuesday afternoon in Nevada County.
The deadly accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. in the area of Meadow Drive and Highway 174, about a mile and a half from Nevada County Airport in Grass Valley.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Hooper was flying a single-engine Piper PA-38 when he reported engine problems before crashing into trees and landing upside down in an underdeveloped lot.
First responders arrived at the scene and found Hooper still trapped inside the cockpit.

Hooper was airlifted to Sutter Roseville, where he succumbed to his injuries, the officials said.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
