Lily Renn Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 101 in Buellton
Lily Renn Hospitalized after Buellton Car Crash on Highway 101 near Highway 154

Buellton, California (February 1, 2021) – Lily Aliza Renn, 38, of Oakland, was injured after being involved in a deadly accident Friday evening north of Buellton in Santa Barbara County.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 7 p.m. January 29, on Highway 101, just north of Highway 154.
The authorities said Thomas Vernon Smith, 67, was driving a 2009 Hyundai northbound in the right-hand lane of Highway 101 at an unspecified speed when he tried to pass a 2013 Lexus driven by Renn, who was traveling in the left lane at approximately 50-60 miles per hour.
For unknown reasons, both vehicles sideswiped each other. As a result of the collision, Renn turned her steering wheel to the left and applied the brakes.
Renn’s vehicle reportedly spun out and traveled toward the center median before hitting a tree. Smith’s vehicle also spun out, moved toward the center divider, and ended up against a tree.
The first responders arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures on the victims. Sadly, Smith died while undergoing treatment.
Renn was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
