Jesus Rios Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on Florida Avenue and Kirby Street in Hemet

Hemet, California (December 13, 2020) – Jesus Rios, 33, of Downey, has been identified as the suspected who was arrested after an alleged DUI crash that killed two people and left another seriously injured, authorities said.
The deadly two-vehicle crash occurred at about 4:00 a.m., on December 12, at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Kirby Street.
According to the police, a BMW 535i sedan, driven by Rios, was headed eastbound on Florida Avenue towards Kirby Street when it failed to stop at the intersection.
Unfortunately, Rios’s BMW reportedly rear-ended a Honda Fit hatchback that had stopped at a red traffic signal.

The Honda’s driver, a 21-year-old Hemet woman, and her passenger sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
One other passenger in the Honda was seriously injured.
Rios, who was not injured, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was eventually arrested. Rios was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide and attempted hit-and-run.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
