James Yeager Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Accident at Holmes and Shetler Avenues in Napa
James Yeager ID’d as Motorcyclist Injured in Napa Crash at Holmes and Shetler Avenues; Alexandra Benay Varellas Arrested

Napa, California (February 13, 2018) – The motorcyclist who was badly injured last year when his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident at an intersection in Napa has been identified as James Yeager, 36.
The accident happened at around 10:28 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the intersection of Holmes and Shetler avenues.
The California Highway Patrol said Alexandra Benay Varellas, 21, of Napa, was driving her vehicle when she made a U-turn in front of a motorcycle driven by Yeager.
Yeager then slammed into the Varellas’ vehicle.
Yeager sustained a major foot injury and was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center where he underwent multiple surgeries to save his foot. He may still face the possibility of losing his foot.
Varellas did not stop to render aid to the injured man and fled the scene. Witnesses managed to get a license plate number from her vehicle.
Later in January, Varellas allegedly hit bus driver Mary Jackson, 62, in a pedestrian accident as she jaywalked across Soscol Avenue. Once again, Varellas reportedly fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Police recently located him.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
