Hanako Abe Killed in San Francisco Hit-and-Run Crash at Second and Mission Streets
Hanako Abe among 2 Women Struck and Killed by Vehicle at Second and Mission Streets in San Francisco Thursday

San Francisco, California (January 3, 2021) – Hanako Abe, 27, was among two women who died in a hit-and-run accident Thursday afternoon in the South of Market neighborhood in San Francisco.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, in the area of Second and Mission streets.
A stolen gray Honda, driven by Troy Ramon McAlister, 45, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and struck two women while walking in the area.
Abe and the other woman, identified as Elizabeth Platt, 60, were killed in the accident.
McAlister, who was intoxicated and was on parole for robbery at the time of the accident, did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the scene on foot.
McAlister was later found hiding in a nearby commercial building and was arrested on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation.
