Oceanside, California (February 8, 2019) – 82-year-old Aquilino Arango Ojeda, of Fallbrook; and 43-year-old Rey David Velasco Herrera, of Oceanside, have been identified as the victims who were hurt in an Oceanside crash that left three others dead Tuesday afternoon.

As per a local news source, the accident occurred at about 2:50 p.m. in the area of Oceanside Boulevard and Coast Highway.

A 2003 Mazda 6 sedan was traveling east on Oceanside Boulevard through the intersection with Coast Highway when it was broadsided by a 2007 Toyota Tacoma driven south on Coast Highway by 19-year-old Mason Fish. The crash happened when Fish ran a red light at the intersection.

The Mazda spun out of control and a woman, and a 13-year-old girl were ejected from the vehicle.

The woman who was ejected, and two other women, died in the accident.

Ojeda and Herrera, who were occupying the front seat, were pinned in the car. The victims were extricated and then transported to Scripps La Jolla Medical Center. Both sustained moderate to serious injuries. The teenage girl was hospitalized at Rady Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition.

Police arrested Fish after establishing that he was driving under the influence of an undisclosed controlled substance at the time of the crash.
