At Least 1 Seriously Injured in Novato Car Accident on Highway 37 near Petaluma River Bridge

Novato, California (May 19, 2021) – At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon in Novato, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision took place at about 1:42 p.m. on eastbound Highway 37, just east of the Petaluma River Bridge.
A silver Honda Civic collided with a dark-brown sedan under unclear circumstances. The Civic went about 30 feet off the roadway and down an embankment after the impact.
At least one person was severely hurt in the crash. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene to take the patient to the hospital.
The report said a dog involved in the accident was also injured and the animal control unit was requested to respond and take the animal.
The Civic acquired major left-side damage and the sedan major front-end damage. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
CHP is investigating the wreck.
