Elizabeth Platt Killed in San Francisco Hit-and-Run Accident at Second and Mission Streets

San Francisco, California (January 3, 2021) – Elizabeth Platt, 60, has been identified as one of the two pedestrians who were struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist Thursday afternoon in the South of Market neighborhood in San Francisco.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, in the area of Second and Mission streets.

Authorities said Platt and another woman were walking in the area when they were hit by a stolen gray Honda driven by Troy Ramon McAlister, 45.

McAlister reportedly ran a red light and struck the two women, according to the police.

Platt and the other woman died in the accident.

McAlister, who was intoxicated and was on parole for robbery at the time of the accident, did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the scene on foot. He was later found hiding in a nearby commercial building and was arrested on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
