Karen Almas ID’d as Woman Injured in Maricopa Car Accident on Highway 166 and Pentland Road

Maricopa, California (May 29, 2020) – Karen Almas, 63, of San Luis Obispo, has been identified as the woman who was injured Thursday afternoon in a traffic accident crash that also left one person dead in Maricopa, Kern County.
The deadly accident happened at around 1:43 p.m. Thursday, May 28, on Highway 166 and Pentland Road.
Authorities said a 63-year-old Bakersfield man was driving westbound on Highway 166 when his red Chevrolet pickup truck veered into the eastbound lanes and hit a Freightliner Cascadia operated by Ralph Seeley, of Chandler, Arizona.
The Chevrolet then collided with a Subaru driven by Karen Almas, 63, of San Luis Obispo.

The Bakersfield man, who was not wearing a seat belt, died in the accident. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
Almas sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. She was wearing her seat belt and her airbag deployed, the CHP said.
Seeley was uninjured in the wreck. His truck was transporting dog food, the CHP report states.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
